9 11 TX Jaycees Commemoration

Posted by admin On September - 4 - 2009

Hello US Jaycees!

We have an opportunity to come together as an organization and nation and spread our support across this nation.  And what a better organization than the United States Jaycees!  Even better if we did it around the world!  People from around this country and world supported all the families of those lives lost on September 11, 2001.

I came across this message and I knew we as an organization can make a statement to support those lives lost and for those who are fighting for our continued freedom!  Please pass this to your chapters and members and together let’s make a statement!

September 11th, 2009
We have 11 days and counting to get the word out all across this great land and into every community in the United States of America.

THE PROGRAM:
On Friday, September 11th, 2009, an American flag should be displayed outside every home, apartment, office, and store in the United States. Every individual should make it their duty to display an American flag on the eighth anniversary of one of our country’s worst tragedies. We do this to honor  those who lost their lives on 9/11, their families, friends and loved ones who continue to endure the pain, and those who today are fighting at home and abroad to preserve our cherished freedoms.

In the days, weeks and months following 9/11, our country was bathed in American flags as citizens mourned the incredible losses and stood shoulder-to-shoulder against terrorism. Sadly, those flags have all but disappeared. Our patriotism pulled us through some tough times and it shouldn’t take another attack to galvanize us in solidarity. Our American flag is the fabric of our country and together we can prevail over terrorism of all kinds.

Action Plan:
So, here’s what we need you to do as a great organization – Fly an American flag of any size on 9/11. Honestly, Americans should fly the flag year-round, but if you don’t, then at least make it a priority on this day.

9-11-commemorance

The 9-11 Commemorative Banner is a 21x31 ft banner made of 3014 miniature (4x6inch) flags representing each victim of 9-11. First hung at Ground Zero medical site, and then St George Ferry Terminal on Staten Island, the Pentagon, the USS Battleship NJ, New York's Hotel, and now Al Faw Palace, Iraq.

Posted by admin On July - 5 - 2009

August is the time where schools gear up for students coming back from a fun-filled summer. Due to the economy, many schools and students are forced to start school without the necessary tools. As Jaycees we know, Children are our future and we need to support them. The Texas Jaycees are asking you and your chapters to adopt a local school and provide them with the necessary tools for success. If you are interested in particpating in this State-Wide Project please contact Ryan @ 832-567-7520

If you select a school and donate at least $200 of material your chapter will receive 1000 pts in parade and be listed on the Tools for Schools Wall during the FOYT convention.

We will be marketing this as a whole state so that non-Jaycees can also support this cause through their local Jaycee chapter. So, if your chapter is interested and wants to be a part of this impact contact the First Gentleman or President katherine.
